Joe D’Aquila of Philadelphia and Dan Fatton of Trenton!

How are there two winners you ask? It’s been a few weeks since my last entry and I have to congratulate all of the winners.

In an effort to make sure the Trivia Challenge question was not too easy to answer a few weeks ago, I apparently mad it so difficult that no one had the correct answer!

Joe was the first to correctly answer: “What popular product available in a number of tasty flavors with roots stretching back to early civilizations was first patented in 1869?” The answer was chewing gum!

Dan was the first to correctly answer: “Who was the first Hispanic American baseball player to reach 3,000 hits? The answer was Roberto Clemente.

There are a few folks that I’d like to mention because they seem to always reply to the Welchester’s Concierge Trivia Challenge and often are correct! The only problem is that someone beats them to it! So in my honorable mention category are Elizabeth Yull of Trenton and Janina Akins who works in Trenton.

I hope that weeks don’t pass before my next entry.

Bill Merz of Trenton!

It seems like people are answering these trivia questions more quickly each time! I’ll obviously need to come up with more difficult questions.
The question was “In Fahrenheit, what was the top thermometer reading ever recorded on the planet Earth?”. The answer was 136 degrees. This happened in Azizia, Libya on September 13, 1922. The second highest temperature recorded was in California’s Death Valley in 1913 at 134 degrees.

I’m impressed by how quickly people are responding to the trivia questions. Maybe I should mix it up and send emails at 3:30am when most are just rolling over for the first time…

The trivia question was “When the supply of 800 numbers began to run out, what area code was the first to be used for toll-free numbers?” The answer is 888.

I have to say, of the three trivia questions that Welchester’s Concierge has had, all three winners reside in the Capital City of Trenton! Are Trentonians more likely to be glued to their computers? Maybe they are just a larger number of super geniuses in Trenton? There are plenty of people participating in the trivia challenge from all over Mercer County and beyond so I don’t know what is happening. Maybe we can get a nice rivalry going, complete with smack talk and bragging rights, between different municipalities. I can only state the facts – Trenton is in the lead.

I am VERY excited to let those who are reading know that The Welchester’s Concierge Trenton Treasure Quest (www.TrentonTreasureQuest.com)

has a cool new logo AND website that are in the works and will be unveiled before too long. We’ve been working with Adam Nichols and crew at Markations Consulting

(www.markations.com) to get it developed. Wait until you see it all, you will be very impressed! When I had my initial look, I was yelling and jumping around with glee. My husband, who is accustomed to my displays of excitement, ignored me and though he was equally impressed his reaction was a bit more subdued and less likely to frighten small children and animals.

Thank you to MarkationsConsulting (www.markations.com)!!!!!!

Greg Forester of Trenton!

With lightening quick speed, Greg was the first person to correctly answer the question “What is the largest denomination of U.S. paper currency ever printed for use by the general public?”. The correct answer is $10,000.

A number of people did reply with $100,000. While there were $100,000 bills printed, “The notes were used only for official transactions between Federal Reserve Banks and were not circulated among the general public.” Before people protest and come looking for me, check out this little website of an entity you may be familiar with called the United States Department of the Treasury at http://www.ustreas.gov/education/faq/currency/denominations.shtml#q2 for proof.

Congrats to Greg! Better luck next time to everyone else.

Verlina Reynolds of Trenton, New Jersey!

I’m pleased to announce that Ms. Verlina Reynolds of Trenton, New Jersey is the first winner of the Welchester’s Concierge Trivia Challenge.  She correctly answered the question,  “What widely used electronic device was invented in 1973?”.  The answer is cellular phone.  Congrats Verlina!

There were a few of other’s who answered correctly but not as quickly as Verlina.  Thanks to Adam Nichols of FetchTime and Markations, Justin Wszolek of United First Financial and Don Wallar of Trenton, New Jersey for participating and having the correct answer.

Arnold Rosner of Strand Management Solutions, Inc. gave me an entertaining explanation on how the programmable calculator was introduced in 1973.  Thanks Arnold.

Thank you to masses who took educated guesses.  Some guessed the microwave, the vcr, computer, vacuum cleaner, the ethernet and internet (which are not actual devices, but what the hay), the fax machine and more!

A special thank you to this week’s trivia challenge sponsor, Sinclair Management Group!
